October 9, 2025 — A delegation from the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by Committee Chair Aigul Sayfollakyzy Kuspan, paid a working visit to the Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems (RIBSP) LLP.
The delegation included:
- Olzhas Khayrollauli Kuspekov – Deputy of the Mazhilis, member of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security
- Maxim Nikolaevich Rozhin – Deputy of the Mazhilis, member of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security
- Kuanysh Abenkyzy Abenova – Head of the Sector of the Department for Ensuring the Activities of the Committee
The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the deputies with the activities of one of Kazakhstan’s leading research and production centers in the field of biological safety, discuss current challenges in the sector, and develop proposals to enhance state policy in this area.
During the visit, the delegation reviewed the Institute’s key areas of research, modern laboratory infrastructure, and innovative scientific projects.
The Director General of RIBSP emphasized the significance of the visit:
“We highly appreciate the government’s and Parliament’s attention to issues of biological safety. Parliamentary support plays a crucial role in advancing scientific research aimed at protecting public health and strengthening the country’s biological sovereignty,” he noted.
In turn, Aigul Kuspan, Chair of the Mazhilis Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, highlighted the Institute’s importance:
“The Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems is a strategically important scientific institution for Kazakhstan. We recognize the high professionalism and scientific potential of its team, whose work contributes to national security and the sustainable development of our country,” she said.
At the conclusion of the visit, the parties discussed prospects for further cooperation, improvement of the regulatory framework, and measures to support domestic scientific research in the field of biological safety.
