The official visit of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Swiss Confederation began with a meeting with the Director General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
During the conversation, topical issues and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and WHO were discussed. The Head of State presented information about the measures taken by our country to counteract the pandemic, including the development of anti-cancer drugs by Kazakhstan scientists and the course of mass vaccination of the population.
The Head of State told the assembly participants about the development of Kazakhstan’s QazVac vaccine, its promotion and successful modification against the new Delta strain. Kazakhstan’s vaccine is not only effectively used in our country, but has also been approved in other Central Asian countries.
The Head of State also spoke about the promotion of the new second subunit vaccine QazCoVac-P. This drug is included in the list of candidate vaccines in the phase of clinical trials.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus informed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about the key areas of the fight against coronavirus, new strains of the virus and possible scenarios for the further development of the pandemic. The Head of WHO once again highlighted the exceptional importance of vaccination in the fight against a deadly virus.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed full support for WHO’s desire to ensure equal and fair access to vaccines, stressing the readiness to provide Kazakhstan’s vaccine to all countries in need.
The participants of the meeting emphasized the importance of coordinating international efforts to promote public health. The General Director, for his part, welcomed the commitment of the President of Kazakhstan to the goals and approaches of WHO, including the development of primary health care.
The President expressed gratitude to the Head of WHO for supporting Kazakhstan’s vaccines.
During the Investment round table, a Memorandum of cooperation was signed between the RSE PEM “Research Institute of Biological Safety Problems” of the SC MES RK, represented by General Director Zakaria K.D. and the company “MZ Groupe” (Switzerland), represented by President Abdalakh Shatila.
The subject of the memorandum is the establishment of partnerships and the development of long-term, effective and mutually beneficial cooperation between the Parties aimed at implementing joint projects on the organization of production of vaccines for medicine and veterinary medicine outside the territory of Kazakhstan.
