On November 16, 2020, in Nur-Sultan, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a videoconference meeting with members of the Government, heads of a number of state bodies, mayors of the cities and regions on measures to counter the spread of coronavirus infection.
The President said that the most important task of the Government is to launch a domestic vaccine into production without delay.
Kasym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that two domestic vaccines are among the promising world biologics and are undergoing clinical trials.
The Head of State noted that it is necessary to simplify the procedure for temporary registration and complete the construction of a plant for pilot and industrial production of vaccines. It is important to continue working in all areas of ensuring biological safety.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to submit a draft law on biosafety for consideration by deputies before the end of the current session of the Parliament.
The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexey Tsoi, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Tugumbayev, Director General of the Research Institute of Biological Safety Problems Kunsulu Zakarya, Mayor of East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov, Mayor of Kostanay region Archimed Mukhambetov and Mayor of Pavlodar region Abylkair Skakov.
Also during the meeting, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan instructed to “deal with cartels in the pharmaceutical business.” Earlier, the Director General of the Research Institute of Biological Safety Problems, Kunsulu Zakarya, said that the Kazakh vaccine against coronavirus infection is not inferior to foreign analogues.
